The National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) visited ISI's office in Jakarta on July 24, 2027. NIDS was represented by Iida Masafumi, Director of the Security Studies Department, Ryuzo Ikegami, Senior Fellow (Colonel), and representatives from the Japan Embassy in Indonesia (@jpnambsindonesia). On the ISI side, the delegation was welcomed by Executive Directors @1000walkie and others. During a short trip to Indonesia, ISI was one of the think tanks visited, along with @csisindonesia and @fpcindo.
Numerous topics were covered, including the possibility of NIDS and ISI working together more in the future. Southeast Asia is currently another area of interest for NIDS.
NIDS itself is the Japanese Ministry of Defense's core policy research arm, conducting research and studies with a policy orientation primarily on security and military history while also serving as a strategic college-level educational institution for the training of high-level officers of the Self-Defense Forces.
